FAQS

CBD is short for ‘Cannabidiol’, is a cannabanoid and one of the compounds that exist in the cannabis plant. Hearing the term cannabis usually is associated with a psychoactive effect or ‘getting high’. However, CBD is a non-psychoactive (will NOT get you high) and generally is used to promote overall wellness and homeostasis within the body.

Every single person has an “ECS” or Endocannabinoid system naturally occurring within the body. This system exists regardless of whether you have consumed any of the cannabis plant compounds or not. Research in this field is still in foundational stages, however, it is agreed upon that ECS receptors exist in almost all cells and organ tissues within the human body. These receptors have been found to play a very substantial role in achieving and regulating homeostasis and achieving overall health.

Naturally occurring deficiencies in the ECS system may throw our bodies out of homeostasis, and can cause a wide range of problematic responses. This is where plant derived CBD can be used as a natural way to supplement ECS system deficiencies and try to help the body achieve balance and homeostasis.

The Endocannabinoid System as an Emerging Target of Pharmacotherapy

Cannabinoids are compounds that occur naturally in the human body (endocannabinoids) and cannabis plants (phytocannabinoids). Cannabinoid interactions with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) trigger various physiological actions within the human body. While THC is the most well-know cannabinoid, CBD appears to be the key player when discussing health and medicinal benefits of the cannabis plant.
Other lesser known cannabinoids include:

  • Cannabichromenes (CBC)
  • Cannabigerols (CBG)
  • Cannabinodiol (CBL)
  • Cannabinol (CBN)

CBD oil is a natural oil that is extracted from the flowers and leaves of the Hemp, a type of cannabis plant. CBD Oil is used by many people for many different purposes. CBD Oil is an umbrella term in the industry and you as the consumer will see everything ranging from CBD – Oil Isolate, CBD Oil – Broad Spectrum, and CBD Oil – Full Spectrum.

CBD Isolate – is the isolated CBD crystals mixed with a carrier oil, usually a form of MCT Oil. Does not have any other cannabinoids present in the mixture.

Broad Spectrum CBD Oil – everything extracted from the cannabis plant without the THC compound. All the cannabis plant benefits, without the ‘high’ feeling. This type of CBD Oil also utilizes the benefits of the ‘entourage effect’, which has been named this by research that suggests cannabis plant extract is most beneficial with the presence of more types of cannabinoids and terpenes.

Full Spectrum CBD Oil – everything extracted from the cannabis plant INCLUDING the THC compound. This will get you ‘high’.

At OG Potion we focus on the therapeutic benefits of CBD and have thus chosen to focus our efforts on creating the most beneficial product for the consumer, and for this reason we have chosen to provide a broad-spectrum line of CBD Oil products.

Hemp (Cannabis Sativa) and marijuana (Cannabis Indica) are both types of cannabis plant. The differences arise in the ratio of cannabinoid content within the plants. Marijuana contains larger amounts of a cannabinoid known as THC, which causes a ‘high’ to the user. Hemp however, contains very low or negligible amounts of THC and is unlikely to cause a high.

This is a very tough question to answer since organic compounds such as CBD have varied effects and dosage requirements based on many factors. We recommend starting small and increasing dosage until the desired effects are reached.

All OG Potion products go through rigorous testing by third-party labs to guarantee purity, precise concentrations of cannabinoids, and making sure or products are free of THC and any potential contaminants.
